Omphalocele is relatively rare congenital anomaly, which has been reported to occur about once in every 5, 000 to 10, 000 births. Although the treatment of omphalocele has been made choice of ,one or multiple stages operation and conservative treatment according to their defect size of the :abdominal wall. There was other method, namely, prosthesis combined with the elementary diet .and the prognosis is not still much expectable with high mortality of 50% and the optimal treatment has not yet been attained.
Four cases of omphalocele, two smaller ruptured type which were treated ´surgically and two larger intact type which could not be repaired surgically, were seen at Ewha Womans University Hospital. The contents of protrusion in all the cases were stomach and intestine, one case had liver and the other had liver and spleen. Two smaller ruptured cases were discharged with improv\ement and the others were expired.
